A Memorial service for Tracy Ray (Bubba) Peters will be held: March 21, 2026 at 11am under the oak tree at 8590 Elmo Weedon Road, Bryan, Texas 77808. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make donations to Bethel Baptist Church at 9900 SH 30, College Station, Tx. 77845

Tracy Ray (Bubba) Peters was born in Grimes County, Texas on December 2, 1936 to Douglas Leon Peters and MaeDelle Hensarling Peters. He passed from this life to his Heavenly reward on March 10, 2026 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his mother and daddy, his sister Mildred Jane (Millie) Peters Murphy, brother in law’s Robert Murphy and Milton Bell and niece Jean Marie (Jeanie) (Bell) Hicks.

Bubba spent most of his growing up in Brazos County where his family has been ranching since the 1860’s. He grew up learning all aspects of ranch work from a young age.

He said when he was too short to mount a horse by himself they would send him out to ride the goat pasture. When he would find a goat with its head hung in the fence he would get off his horse and get the goats head pushed back through the fence. Then lead his horse until he could find a tree stump tall enough for him to get back on.

As he got older he would go with his dad to help doctor screw worms, they would look for infected cattle and rope and doctor them in the pasture. He often said “the day they eradicated the screw worm was the day all the sure nuff cow dogs, cow horses and cowboys left this country”.

Bubba played both football and basketball in high school but settled on basketball. He was a 3 year letterman and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1956. He received a scholarship to play basketball for Allen Academy Jr. College.

He served in the National Guard of Texas from 1956 - 1959 then entered the United States Army from 1959 - 1962.

In April 1966 Bubba married his “angel” Mollie McCoy, building a life and legacy together for nearly 60 years. During that time they raised a family, had 3 children 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and “adopted” numerous others along the way.

Bubba served his community as a firefighter and was a rancher on his days off. Eventually he left the fire department and went into full time ranching and fishing for lost souls. He walked with The Lord, raised his family, and set a fine example of how to live a Godly life in this broken world. He always looked for the good in people and never met a stranger. He found pure joy in talking about Jesus with others and had a hand in bringing many to place their faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his angel Mollie, his Sister: Joyce Bell, his Children: Jeff Peters and wife Caron, Lynn Shields and husband Scot, Gretchen Davis and husband Scot. Grandchildren: Candice Lyon (Baylor), Chassidy Crenshaw (Gage), Gabrielle Baker (Kory), McClendon Hill (Ashlea), Madison Pharr (Christian), Morgan Davis, Amanda Stafford (Cameron). Great Grandchildren: Braysen Lyon, Braxton Lyon, Saydie Crenshaw, Bennett Lyon and Henleigh Hill. Nephew Douglas Bell (Linn) and a host of extended family and friends.
