Thomas Stroup Obituary
Thomas Corey Stroup, 52, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, TX, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 2, 1973, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Thomas lived a life marked by creativity, deep love for his family, and an enduring passion for music. A lifelong artist and devoted father, Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures–painting, listening to records, attending live concerts, and most of all, spending time with his two beloved sons, Vaughn Elvis Stroup and Revel Wilde Stroup.
Thomas was an avid Elvis Presley fan and, in his younger years, went so far as to have his own custom Elvis jumpsuit made. His love for Elvis extended beyond the music–naming his firstborn son Elvis. Thomas was known for his sharp sense of style, his carefully chosen outfits, and his impeccable hair.
To those who knew him best, Thomas wasn’t just creative–he was funny, witty, and effortlessly charming. His sharp comebacks, playful humor, and ability to light up any room made him unforgettable. But above all, it was his good heart that truly set him apart. He will be remembered not just for his humor, his artistic soul, and his love of music, but for the warmth and joy he brought to those around him.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Mae Stroup. He is survived by his father, Thomas Milton Stroup; his sister, Donda Embry and her husband Scott Embry; and his two sons, Vaughn Elvis and Revel Wilde Stroup, whose mother and Thomas’ former wife, Lindsay Hutchins, remains part of the extended family.
He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, Sarah Tirado and her husband Claudio Tirado and their daughters Khloe, Hailey, Emma, and Sophia; and Sadie Todd, her husband Tommy Duncan, and their son Ryker Duncan. Thomas also leaves behind his girlfriend, Kerri Simmons, whose presence brought comfort and companionship in his later years.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Ft. Worth Country Memories, located at 5682 Tenderfoot Trail, Fort Worth, TX 76135. For information on sending flower arrangements, please contact the family directly.
Thomas will be dearly missed, but his spirit–full of music, laughter, style, and love–will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
