Terry Glenn Martin Obituary
Terry Glenn Martin, 62, of College Station, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2025. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side after suffering a massive heart attack during an early morning exercise class 10 days prior. While his passing was unexpected, we find comfort in knowing that he met his Savior face to face, and that his legacy will live on in every life he touched. Terry had an unwavering love for his family. He was born on November 13, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Patricia Ellen Gassett Martin and the late Harvey Gerald Martin. He spent his childhood between Texas and Colorado, graduated from Grand Junction High School (CO) and earned a Finance degree from The University of North Texas. He was active in sports, playing football and soccer and running track and field. No matter where he lived, Terry carried with him a spirit of warmth, humor, and humility that made people feel at ease. He was the kind of man who never sought the spotlight but was always the first to show up when someone needed a hand, a prayer, or a shoulder to lean on. Terry built a life rooted in love – love for God, love for his family and love for his community. He met the love of his life, Amanda Weiss, while playing on their company’s softball team. They socialized regularly with a group of single coworkers and their friendship soon blossomed into love. They were married in August 1988, began their life in Dallas, then moved to Austin/Round Rock where they had three children, Chandler, Dylan and Mackenzie. In 2012, they relocated to College Station, where Terry spent the last 13 years working for Texas A&M University as an Accounting Director. Terry was a devoted husband, and the kind of father children dream of having. His kids were the joy of his life and he led them with gentleness, wisdom and fierce loyalty. He coached or volunteered in every activity—sports, band and school. He showed up loud and proud, never missing a game, competition or band performance. “T-Dawg” was their biggest cheerleader and inspired them to give their best effort at anything they attempted. He loved heart-to-heart talks on the porch, and his advice always had that signature blend of patience and humor that made you feel that everything was going to be okay. To know Terry was to know steadiness in a storm. He had a calm presence, a quick wit, and a heart that carried the weight of others. His passions were reading, listening to music, playing golf, building a beautiful backyard that was their weekend paradise, and catching a good nap while watching Bob Ross. He volunteered with many organizations, churches, Stage Center Theatre and had just recently been paired up as a golfing partner to compete in Special Olympics with the Aggie Bombers. He also had a mad collection of spreadsheets where he kept decades of records…every golf score, every book he had read and wanted to read, his weight statistics, family finances, retirement plans and even his and Amanda’s daily Wordle competitions. He didn’t need extravagance to be happy—just time with his family and friends either vacationing at the lake, cruising, playing blackjack, golfing trips with the guys, karaoke, air guitar and starring in his daughter’s TikTok videos.
Above all, Terry was a man of faith. His relationship with God was steady and unshakable, and he lived it daily in how he treated others—with grace, compassion and service. He believed in the goodness of people and in the eternal promise of Heaven. Even in death, Terry gave generously. As an organ donor, he left one final act of love and selflessness—the gift of life to others. That was who he was, even to his last breath: giving, compassionate, and thinking of others first. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort knowing that this is not the end of his story. Terry is now whole and rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. And while his earthly voice may be silent, the echoes of his love will carry on in our lives—in every act of kindness, in every laugh at an old memory, in every reminder that love never dies. Terry will be missed beyond words (most immediately as the family accountant and resident maid), but he will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Amanda, sons Chandler (College Station) and Dylan (El Campo), and daughter Mackenzie (College Station); grand-dogs Red and Lacy Lou; cousin Scott Laman (Dallas); brother Mark Martin (Wylie); sister Kelly Martin (Wylie); sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pamela Weiss & John Keith (White Oak), nieces Heather, Suzanne and Stephanie Martin (Dallas), Megan Jenkins (Wylie) and Alyssa Keith (Dry Run, PA); nephews Chris Herrell & Brittany (Denton) and Pearson Keith (White Oak); and special family friend Boyd Murrill (Baton Rouge, LA).
