Rickey “Rockey” Ortiz, 62, of Bryan passed away Monday, December 30, 2024. Visitation will be from 10 to 11AM Saturday, January 11 with a 10:30AM Rosary in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services are set for 11 AM also on Saturday, January 11 at Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mt Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Born August 8, 1962, in Bryan, Texas he was the son of Paul and Julia (Rocha) Ortiz. Rickey was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family on the banks of a river or lake making memories. He was a lifelong truck driver and spent his career driving and working on his numerous eighteen-wheelers. As a grandfather, he loved spending every moment possible with his grandbabies.
His parents, Paul and Julia, along with a brother, Jim Ortiz and two sisters, Judy Vasquez, and Rita Ortiz precede him in death.
Rickey leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 31 years, Carla Ortiz; one son, Rickey Ortiz and Erin Benedict; a daughter, Richell Ortiz; along with two brothers, Paul Ortiz, and Ernest Ortiz and wife Vickie Sustaita; a sister, Elvira and her husband Leopold Gonzales; he also leaves four precious grandchildren, Jayden Ortiz, Raina Ortiz, Olivia Blake Ortiz, and ‘Richell Royale Ortiz.
