Paul Ortiz Jr. of Bryan, TX passed away on February 20, 2026. Visitation will be held on 10:30AM Wednesday February 25 in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home in Bryan. Services will follow at 12PM Santa Teresa Catholic Church and then a burial at Mt Calvary Cemetery. 

Born October 20, 1949, in Bryan, Paul was the beloved son of Paul Ortiz Sr. and Julia Rocha. He spent his life in the community he cherished, surrounding himself with family and nurturing his deep love of baking, never arriving at a gathering without a cake made from the heart. As a chef, he poured his passion into every dish, sharing comfort, joy, and connection through food. When he wasn’t in the kitchen creating something special, he found peace outdoors with a fishing pole in hand, treasuring the quiet serenity it brought him. Paul also loved to dance, filling every floor with energy and joy, often winning the dance contests he entered. More than anything, he shared his passions wholeheartedly with his family, lighting up every gathering with laughter, warmth, and unmistakable spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judy Vasquez and Rita Ortiz; and two brothers, Vincent Ortiz and Rickey Ortiz.

Paul leaves behind a family who will forever love him and carry his memory close to their hearts: his brother, Ernest Ortiz and his wife Vicky of Bryan; his sister, Elvira Gonzalez and her husband Leopoldo Gonzalez of Bryan; and many cherished friends. The light and joy Paul brought into every room will live on in the stories shared, the recipes remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
