Nelda Cruz, 67, of Bryan passed away Friday, August 13, 2021. Funeral Services are set for 1 PM Thursday, August 19 in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. Pastor Cristobal Ledezma will officiate and burial will follow in the Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday, August 18 also at Trevino-Smith.

Born December 13, 1953, in Wheelock, Texas she was the daughter of Julian Cruz Sr. and Blasa Hernandez Cruz. Nelda was blessed with loving parents and a family of brothers and sisters that once numbered nine. She graduated from Bryan High school in 1972, being the first class to do so from the new building. Soon after graduation, she attended Massey College of Business in Houston where she graduated in 1973. Nelda retired from Texas A&M University in June 2003, where she was a finance specialist in the purchasing department. Retirement came sooner than Nelda expected when she was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure.

Nelda is preceded in death by her parents Julian Cruz Sr. and Blasa Hernandez Cruz; one brother Julian Cruz Jr.; five sisters, Pauline Martinez, Julia Cruz Molina, Mary Cruz Lopez, Alice Cruz and Connie Cruz.

Nelda leaves behind to cherish her memories one sister Minnie Juarez and a brother Felipe Cruz. Nelda was also blessed with a multitude of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Her pallbearers will be Kevin Cruz, Alexander Gutierrez III, Robert Molina, Angel Reyes, Bryan Reyes Jr, Mark Villareal, Francisco Macias, and Brandon Gutierrez.
