Myra Picazo Obituary

Myra Yvette Picazo

June 27, 1959 – February 22, 2021

On Monday, February 22nd, 2021, Myra Yvette Picazo, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away in Dallas, Texas at the age of 61. Myra was born to C.C. Benjamin and Domitila “Tillie” Picazo in Flagstaff, Arizona on June 27th, 1959. She obtained an advanced nursing degree from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1984, specializing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She practiced medicine for 31 years, primarily in Dallas. On June 27th, 1987, she married Rafael H. Rodriguez at Highland Park First United Methodist Church. They raised two children, Marissa and Mario, and were parents to Manuel “Manny” Gilbert Encinias and Victoria “Tory” Turner.

Myra had a passion for life. She loved traveling and being with her family, and she never stopped learning. Her medical practice was in family medicine, and she gave back to some of the most underserved communities in Dallas. Her patients loved her and would seek her out if she changed clinics. Myra never met a stranger and had the ability to instantly make friends with almost everyone she met. She was a charming and vivacious woman with a taste for the finer things in life. She also loved the family pets, adopted while raising her children, almost as much as she loved her children! She will be remembered for her generosity, her medical professionalism, her deep love for her family, and her compassionate spirit.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Tillie; her siblings Deborah Apodaca, Joel Picazo, María Delores “Lolly” Picazo Rios and Efraim “Fin” Picazo. She is survived by her husband Rafael; her three children Manny, Marissa, and Mario; her step-daughter Tory; her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Picazo Rudolph and husband Karl; her brothers David Picazo and Michael Picazo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2021 at the Treviño-Smith Funeral Home at 5 o’clock in the evening in Bryan, Texas. Flowers or donations can be sent to 2627 Wells Ct., Cedar Hill, TX.
