With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Irving Linger (78), of College Station, who peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 15, 2026.

Michael was born in Washington D.C. on June 25, 1947, had a lifelong love for amateur radio and served 2 tours in Vietnam as a radio operator with the United States Marine Corps, before graduating from Texas A&M University, Class of 1973. He became an accomplished mechanical engineer, working for Snelson-Anvil and British Petroleum on the Alaska pipeline, before returning to Texas A&M to spend 38 years overseeing, teaching and mentoring, at the Central Machining & Electronics Repair Facility, the Offshore Technology Research Center, then ultimately with the Civil Engineering department. He loved teaching, camping with family and restoring classic radios and vehicles (especially Willys Jeeps), yet always found time to be "Mr. Fix It" for countless friends, strangers, family, neighbors & students.

He is survived by his wife Diann and family, his son Steven and family, his daughter Gayle and family, step-son Kody Mitchell and family, step-daughter Shannon Ring and family, 9 grandchildren, and the countless other friends, students and church members whose lives he touched through his love, friendship, humor, guidance and knowledge.

A private ceremony will be held in Michael’s honor for close friends and family.
