Mayge (Williams) Henry Obituary
Mayge Williams Henry passed away peacefully at home on December 27th, at the age of 88.
Graveside Funeral Services are set for 2PM Thursday, January 1st, at the Manning Cemetery in the Macey Community, Brazos County, Texas, with a gathering of friends to be held at the graveside prior to the service.
Born on September 2nd, 1937, in the Macy community, Mayge was the beloved daughter of N.R. "Shorty" and Ophelia (Mosley) Williams. She lived a life defined by love, service, and devotion to her family, faith, and community. She attended King's Highway, a small rural school, then transferred to Normangee High School to complete her education. It was there she met Hubbard Ray Henry, and the two were married upon her graduation. He was the love of her life, and to this union was born their daughter, Cynthia Raye. They moved to Bryan to make their home, and Mayge worked there for many years at First National Bank, where she was known not only for her dedication but also for the lifelong friendships she formed before her retirement in 1999. Mayge was very active in her community, her church, and she faithfully served for many years as Secretary-Treasurer and board member of the Manning Cemetery Association.
Family was the center of Mayge's life. She treasured her time with family and was exceedingly proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found great joy in the outdoors, especially working in her flower beds, hosting cookouts for the children, and hunting with her husband. Mayge was very creative, and her hobbies included sewing, quilting, cooking, and crafting. She was rarely found sitting still, and in this way, she made her home more welcoming to her family and friends. She loved her Lord and Savior and always tried to be available to anyone who needed help or an uplifting prayer. Her kindness, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mayge is preceded in death by her parents, Shorty and Ophelia Williams, Hubbard Henry, her loving husband of 59 years, her two brothers, Lee Roy and Dayle Williams, and her sister, LaRue Beamon.
She is survived by her daughter and favorite son-in-law, Cindy and Mitchell Broaddus, three granddaughters, Alyssa and husband William Davidson, Casey and husband Brian Stout, and Rachel Broaddus, two sisters Martha June Williams and Euwyn Pegues, both of Normangee, two brothers-in-law, Jerry Beamon of the Macey Community, and Billy Ross Henry and wife Lenore of Huntsville, and six great-grandchildren, Samantha Davidson, Persephone Davidson, Alexander Davidson, Rhiannon Davidson, Matthew Stout, and Jonathan Stout; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Her pallbearers include: Mitchell Broaddus, Greg Hodges, Buddy Beamon, William Davidson, Brian Stout, and Charlie Hamiter.
Her honorary pallbearers include: Jerry Beamon, Jessey Williams, Woody Schlutz, Mike Adams, Ben Miller, and Sam Villereal.
