Maurice Dean “Tally” Talbert, a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, moved to his heavenly home on April 26, 2026, at the age of 99, just 11 days shy of his 100th birthday. He was born to Ralph Roland Talbert and wife, Lota D. Talbert, on May 7, 1926, in Mercedes, Texas. He was married to Kathleen “Katy” Joan Talbert, his beloved wife for 74 years, on September 1, 1949. They began their married lives together in Taft, Texas, and after a few years, moved to Weslaco, Texas, where they lived for 12 years. In 1965, the family moved to Nederland, Texas, where he was principal of Langham Elementary. Tally later became Superintendent of schools in Nederland for several years, until his retirement. In 2020 Tally and Katy, moved to Bryan.
He was predeceased by his wife, Katy. He is survived by his four sons and their spouses: George and wife, Karen; Wesley and wife, Debby; Richard and wife, Sherry; and David and wife, Kathy. He was the grandfather to 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brothers, Van Talbert and Don Talbert, and his sister, Joye Talbert Sanchez.
A Memorial Service will be held May 30, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Church in College Station. The Church will be open at 11:30 for flower deliveries.
