Mary Patterson Obituary

Mary Beth Patterson

November 22, 1934 – September 14, 2022

 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2)

Mary Beth Patterson was born November 22, 1934, in Bryan, Texas to William Lee and Iva Grace Dowling. She was the eldest of three children. She met the love of her life, Wilbern Patterson, and was married on December 24, 1951. They were blessed with three sons and three daughters and lived in various states throughout the nation due to Wilbern’s 26-year career in the U.S Air Force.

Mary Beth worked for Civil Service for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, and visiting with her family. One thing that was very important to her was sharing the message of Christ by teaching ladies Bible class, being involved in World Bible School, and women’s prison ministry. She enjoyed visiting the sick and taking food to those in need. She was a member at the Brazos Valley Church of Christ in College Station.

Her grandchildren fondly remember her reading and teaching them bible stories.

Mary Beth was a Godly woman, faithful wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and truly exemplified Proverbs 31, "A wife of noble character". She was truly a wise lady that was respected and loved by many. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten!

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Iva Grace Dowling, her husband of 67 years, Wilbern B. Patterson, her son, David Patterson, and her brother, John K. Dowling.

She is survived by five children, Pam and husband Gene Beller, Tom and wife Cindy Patterson, Janice Patterson, Sherry and husband Ben Smith, Greg and wife Anda Patterson, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. As well as her brother, Glenn and his wife, Kay Dowling.

Let me share my Mother’s faith with you;

She believed the Bible describes the clear message of Salvation that Jesus and His disciples taught to those who:

Hear – Rom. 10: 13-17

Believe in Jesus – Heb. 11:6

Repent of your sins – Lk. 13:3-5; Acts 17:30-31

Confess Jesus name – Mt. 10:32-33

Arise and be Immersed and wash away your sins – Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16

Live Faithfully and receive a crown of life – Rev. 2:10

The Bible says,

But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him (1John 2:5)
