Born on November 8, 1949, in Normangee, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Loyd and Maudie Lee (Gibson) Pegues. She was one of 9 children, four daughters and five sons.

In 1965, she met her forever love, Edward “Butch” Lee Sr. They married on February 12, 1966, settled in Bryan, Texas and had 3 children. Mary Lou loved working and being around others. For most of her life, she worked in the accounting, restaurant, and banking business. Her warm smile, kindness, and sweet soul brought so much joy to others. Her greatest love and enjoyment came from spending cherished time with her family and friends; they were her happy place. She loved cooking and Sunday dinners with her family. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, and nanny to her grandkids. She truly loved taking care of and supporting her family in everything.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Maudie Lee (Gibson) Pegues; father-n-law, Edward F. Lee; mother-n-laws Mildred Lee and Margaret Moore; sister Jana Harris; and brothers Carlos Pegues, Lee Wayne Pegues, and Morris Pegues.

Mary Lou leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 59 years, Edward “Butch” Lee Sr.; her son Edward “Butch” Lee, Jr.; two daughters Susan Lee and Kristy Lee Brubaker; five grandchildren, Brandee Luce, Halee Luce, Carlee Brubaker, Cody Brubaker, and Gage Lee; five great grand-children Layne Luce, Payton Luce, Brayden Elliott, Kylee Pivonka, and Westyn Luce; two sisters Patricia Gibson (Peanut) and Debbie Matthews; and two brothers Clifton Pegues (Cil) and Don Pegues. She also leaves behind eight sister-n-laws, five brother-n-laws, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends she considered family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
