Mary Catherine Ucker Escobar

Mary Catherine Ucker Escobar, born in Logan, Ohio, passed away on December 3, 2022 in College Station, Texas at the age of 79. Mary earned her registered nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Nursing School and Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia. There she met and subsequently married the love of her life: a wonderful doctor named Pedro Escobar.

            In 1984, Mary and Pedro relocated their family to Tucson, Arizona. Mary raised their threedaughters and volunteered with numerous organizations over the years. Most notable was Mary’s involvement with Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and later Salpointe Catholic High School, organizing numerous fundraisers, events, and volunteering at both schools. Mary was also a long-time parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, helping to decorate the church throughout the year and serving as a lector and Eucharistic minister.

            In 2018, Mary moved to College Station, Texas, following the death of her husband Pedro of over 50 years. She loved crafting, the outdoors, going for long walks, hummingbirds and gardening. Mary served God and loved her family.

            Mary is survived by her daughters Maria (Mark), Christina (Mathew), and Carla (Seth); her grandchildren Phoebe, Zachary, Mason, Lucas and Callan; as well as two sisters. She will be deeply missed.

            Mary’s rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E. Lee Street in Tucson, Arizona. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road in Tucson, Arizona.
