Marion "Sonny" Lee Matelshak Obituary
Marion “Sonny” Matelshak Sr, 79, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. A Visitation is set for 2pm to 3pm Sunday, October 27, with a Funeral Service at 3pm; Chaplain James Holt will officiate.
Born November 13, 1944 in Bryan, Texas, he was the son of Wallace and Virginia (Sadowski) Matelshak. Sonny was a devoted employee of Guard Texas where he worked as a security guard. When he wasn’t working, Sonny enjoyed watching television, especially the news. He often joked that an hour long TV show was over thirty minutes of commercials; one of his biggest pet peeves. Sonny loved spending time with his beloved fur baby, Shadow, who always put a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Virginia; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Joe Goodrum; and his beloved children, Marion “Sonny” Jr. and Loretta Lynn Matelshak.
Sonny leaves behind to cherish his memories, his niece and caregiver, Marie and husband Skip Taylor; niece Kelsey and husband Derrick; nephew, Keaton Taylor and fiancée Kayla; one great niece and four great-nephews; as well as, his beloved fur baby and companion, Shadow.
