Margot (Farley) Bledsoe Obituary

Beulah Margot Farley Bledsoe, 86, of Bryan, passed away at her home  Monday, November 14, 2022.  A graveside service will be held Dec. 21,  2:00pm at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, TX.

Margot was born in Gladewater, TX to Lester D. and Lena Mae Farley.   Her father worked in the oilfield, and, after living in various cities in Texas and Louisiana, she and her family settled in Corpus Christi, where, in 1954, she graduated from W. B. Ray High School.  She went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Texas A&M University at Kingsville in 1958.   After beginning her teaching career in Corpus Christi, she had the opportunity to teach the U.S. Army Dependents in Hanau and Munich, Germany for 3 years. This was an experience of a lifetime.  After returning to Corpus Christi, she continued teaching elementary school for 30 years.  After retiring, she worked at the Corpus Christi Tourist Center until moving to Bryan in 2000.  In 2003, she started volunteering at the George Bush Library and did so up until she became ill.  The volunteers and staff that she worked with became her second family, and, in commemoration of the library's 25th Anniversary, she, along with 8 others, was honored for having worked over 4,000 hours.  She worked 8,095 hours and so enjoyed it.

Margot was someone who liked to stay busy and was always up for an adventure.  As a  young girl,  she worked at the local grocery store checking and bagging groceries, and was active in the Methodist youth group.  Through the years, she enjoyed traveling, dancing, sewing, reading, going to the movies, making yummy baked goods, and spending time with her daughter, and all her family.

Her parents, and her niece, Christi A. Atkins Owen, precede her in death.

Margot is survived by her daughter, Amy E. Hovorak, and husband David of North Zulch, TX,  her brother Neal D. Farley and wife Cindy of Sugarland, Texas; her sister, Martha A. Atkins and husband Don, of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina,  her niece, Dena L. Atkins Fowler and husband Paul of North Carolina, and her great nephews, Spencer and Conner Fowler, and Parker Owen, all of North Carolina.

Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Traditions Health for their care and support.
