Laverne Reese, 96, of Franklin, Texas, passed away December 8, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday, December 20, in the Chapel of St. Joseph Church of God in Christ. A Funeral Service is set for 11 AM, Saturday, December 20, also at St. Joseph Church of God in Christ. Elder Aaron Camper III will officiate.
Born on April 13, 1929, in Franklin, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Nathan Algno Morrow and Laura Watson. In her free time, Laverne enjoyed dancing, especially to her favorite old tunes, and she rarely passed up a good game of bingo. She took pride in keeping her yard neat and welcoming, often spending quiet afternoons tending to it. She also found comfort and strength in reading her scripture, a practice that grounded her throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Laura; beloved husband, Elmer W. Reese Jr.; a daughter, Linda Reese; two brothers, Bubba Morrow and Kaizer Morrow; a sister, Vera Burnette; and a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Humber.
Laverne leaves behind to cherish her memories, a son, Edward W. Reese and wife, Bea; two daughters, Edith Sheppard and husband, Lester, and Lori Reese; grandchildren, Gregg Hudson and wife, Kara, Kim Hudson, Kynia Morgan, David Morgan, Korey Hudson, Jerome Reese, Geri Reese, Shannon Reese, Gregory Reese, Lavon Reese, Izumi Reese and Maleigha Humber; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 precious great-great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends that will miss her dearly.
