Kay Campbell Obituary

Kay Frances Campbell, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024. Born on January 6, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio, Kay was the cherished daughter of George and Frances Campbell and the youngest of four siblings.

In high school, Kay was renowned for her beauty and grace, serving as a majorette. Her striking auburn hair and elegant long legs made her a local icon, leading her to win five queen's races. At the age of 17, Kay married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Freeland, and together they embarked on a journey that would bring them three wonderful children.

The young family moved to Texas, where they would make their home. After her divorce from Bill, Kay married again and was blessed with a son, sweet Nathan. As a single mother, Kay made the courageous decision to attend nursing school to provide a better life for her children. Her phenomenal work ethic and dedication left an indelible mark on her family, for which they remain deeply grateful.

Kay's passions included cooking, caring for her pets, and cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to the animals she so dearly loved.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her son Nathan. She is survived by her son Richard Freeland (Kim), daughter Lori Lucas (Rick), and daughter Debbie Rasberry (Jay). Kay also leaves behind six grandchildren: Lauren Boyum (Justin), Bryan Lucas (Brittany), Jonathan Lucas (Taylor), Jessica Williams (Alton), Amber Porter (Sam), and Katie Freeland. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Ajay Williams, Lucille and George Boyum, and Levi Freeland.

In memory of Kay, her family encourages donations to local animal shelters. If you are unable to make a donation, honor Kay by spending time with your pet and expressing your love for them. Kay's legacy of love, dedication, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
