Mr. Jeffrey E. Merchant, 59, of Madisonville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. A Visitation is set for 10am, Saturday, March 9, 2024, with Funeral Services to follow at 11am at Trevino-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory in Madisonville, Texas; burial to follow at West End Cemetery. Elder James Davis will officiate.

Born February 28, 1965, in Madisonville, Texas, he was the son of Mr. Marvin Johnson Sr. and Mrs. Mary Lee Merchant. Jeffrey was a family man who loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and going to church. He also enjoyed fishing and took pride in caring for his home and land.

Jeffrey is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mr. Abe and Mrs. Clara Johnson, and Mr. Horace Merchant and Mrs. Margaret Moore; three sisters, Debra Johnson Carter, Tammy Johnson, and, Sara Merchant; two brothers, Andra Johnson and Marvin Johnson Jr.; as well as, two nieces, Tiffany and Tiera Merchant.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of twelve years, Mrs. Theresa Davis; sons, Marcus Merchant and Q’Narius Butcher; daughter, Yonecra Butcher; one brother, Ray Bo Hardeman; three sisters, Anna Merchant, Melody Turner Wayne, and, Sandra Johnson; mother in law, Silverlene Davis; sister in law, Lois Price (Reginald Price); brother in law, Lester Davis; eight beautiful grandchildren; special cousin Belinda “Red” Merchant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
