James Earl McCoy Obituary
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
Sergeant James Earl McCoy Jr. was born May 8, 1959, to James Earl McCoy Sr. and Odessa McCoy. He endured hardships as a child, yet in turmoil even as a teenager, God blessed him with a deep sense of loyalty, duty, honor, and protection to his family. Upon becoming a man, he gave that same loyalty, duty, honor, and protection to his community, his neighbors, and his country by serving in the United States Armed forces for over 20 years. He was a well-traveled man and learned to communicate with people of different races, culture, religions, and backgrounds. In all his travels, he did not forget the homeland of his family roots and obtained a peaceful life in Somerville, TX. James loved the Lord and his relationship with Jesus shined through by his generous, kind, and giving nature to his family, friends, and community.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He survives with his siblings: Wanda McCoy, Helen Gafford-Brown, Stephen McCoy, and Samuel McCoy along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, spiritual family, and other loved ones.
We celebrate the life Sgt. James Earl McCoy Jr. for his service to his family, community, country, and most importantly, his service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Special Thanks: The family would like to thank those who have supported and loved James throughout his life in big and small ways. Committal Service will be located at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at a date to be determined in the future.
