James Clampit

James A. Clampit (Jim), 82, of Giddings passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  A Memorial Service is set for 1:00pm Saturday, May 20th at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings.

Born July 15, 1940, in Angelina County, he was the son of Verda & James Webster Clampit.  Jim served in the U S Air Force as a small arms expert marksmanship and received a National Defense Service Medal.  In his later career worked in law enforcement, game warden and retiring through the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.  Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and barbecuing was his passion, as he enjoyed 52 years married to his wife Shirlene.  Jim was known as his excellence in card playing and dominoes and his favorite times was spending time with family and friends enjoying life.

His parents Verda & James Webster Clampit, wife Shirlene Clampit, son Stan Chapman, son, Sonny Clampit, brother Clyde Clampit, sisters Betty Brown & Jean Marsh precede his death.

Jim leaves behind, stepson Steve Chapman and his wife Sylvia, his son Mike Clampit, daughter Gail Clampit, his sister Lea McDonald and husband Bo, nephew Robert McDonald and his wife Becky, Nephew Don McDonald and his wife Evelyn and grandchildren Caleb, Haeli, Sarah & Laney, a great grandson Noah and family and friends.
