Herbert Washington Sr., 85, of North Zulch, entered into glory on Sunday, June 21, 2026. A service will be held Saturday June 27 at First Baptist Church in North Zulch from 12-2PM

Born on December 16, 1940 in Washington, Louisiana to Emile and Mary Washington.  He attended public schools in Opelousas, Louisiana and Houston, Texas where he lived a short time with his sister Earline. He attended Rice University but soon he and a friend decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California to pursue his dream to become a successful businessman.  While attending classes at UCLA. He worked in the animal research lab there he begins a long and extensive career path in animal research for over 35 years.  He was appointed CEO of Universal Animal Care, assisted in pioneering laparoscopic research, he owned and operated a Surgical Simulation Training Center. In his honor at UCLA Herbert Washington Vivarium Department was created.  His charismatic and magnetic character won over many friendships, he formed a friendship with doctors, scientists, researchers, and many more. He continued to own and manage various businesses over the years.  

Herbert married in his early years, with this union they had two beautiful children Warren and Quinetta.  After many blessed years the decision was made to dissolve the marriage.   

In 2007 Herbert decided it was time to retire and relocated to North Zulch, Texas. Shortly after the move he married Lucelli (Lucy), one precious son was born Herbert Jr., he also gained two bonus children William and Tiffany.  He was an active member at First Baptist Church North Zulch where he attended regularly and served in various departments, a member of Brotherhood, Hospital Ministry and Maintenance or wherever his skills were needed.   As his health begin to fail, he continued to inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams.   He loved to buy and raise cows, fishing, spending time with family and friends.   

He is preceded in death by his parents. Emile and Mary Washington. brother Joe Washington, 7 sisters; Mary Washington, Earline Carrier, Mabel Charles, Eva Wilson, Eurline Quary, Lonnie Brown, and Lillie Ann White.

He leaves to cherish his loving wife Lucelli (Lucy) Washington, son Warren (Richelle), daughter Quinetta, Herbert Jr., William (Brittany) and Tiffany (Max). Grandchildren: LaShonna, Tirell, Helena, Anndrea, Zachary, Finleigh, Zayleigh, Hudson, and Isaiah. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  His memory will live on in all the hearts who loved him.
