Francis Gene Sorem

August 30, 1948 - July 19, 2022

We are heartbroken to announce that Francis “Gene” Sorem, 73, of Millican, TX passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on July 19, 2022, from a battle with Covid at St. Joseph Hospital in College Station, Texas. Born on August 30, 1948, in Windom, Minnesota, he was the son of Dorothy (Farber) Sorem and Harry Sorem. Gene enjoyed woodworking, accounting, traveling, and going on cruises. He also liked to debate politics and for a short time, he liked to ride motorcycles. Then, he got the solstice and car shows became his new hobby.  Most of all, he loved joking around and making people laugh, and he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harry and Dorothy; a brother, Art Sayre; a brother-in-law, Steve Rosenbrook; and an uncle, Al Sorem.

He leaves behind his loving fiancé, Sonia Ratman; two sons, Curt Sorem, and Terry Sorem and wife, Angie; a granddaughter, Brooklyn Sorem; two sisters, Patty Rosebrook, and Judy and husband, Jim Dostal; as well as many nieces and nephews and loved ones.

A memorial service is set for a later date in Sioux City, Iowa.
