Born August 17, 1944, Minnie lived a life filled with love, laughter, music, and unforgettable joy. She was tastefully the life of the party in every sense of the phrase. Being the wife of a minister, she loved people and thrived when surrounded by them. Bringing, prayer, praise, worship, energy, joy, and laughter wherever she went. If there wasn’t enough energy at a gathering, she was sure to make it into a fun-for-all party. Known lovingly by her children as the most beautiful light in this world, she had an extraordinary ability to brighten every room and lift every heart.
She adored dancing, especially to mariachi music, and had a passion for fashion that made her a true trendsetter. Sophisticated and stylish, Minnie carried herself with grace and confidence, inspiring others simply by being herself. She took great pride in mentoring and training young ladies, encouraging them to become strong, independent women who knew their self-worth.
Above all else, Minnie loved her family. She deeply loved her husband and children, selflessly placing her own dreams on hold to care for and support them. Her life was one of devotion, sacrifice, and unconditional love—a love that shaped her family and defined who she was.
Minnie’s legacy is one of joy, strength, elegance, and connection. She showed us how to love fully, celebrate often, and live boldly. Though she will be dearly missed, her unconditional love and light will continue to shine through the lives she touched, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely. All will agree that while her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love, lessons, and spirit remain ever-present.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio Flores and Altagracia Hernandez; her brothers, Jesse Flores and John Flores; and her sister, Esther Cardona. She is now reunited with family and friends she cherished deeply.
Minnie is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Ruben Canales; her beloved children, Marilyn Canales, Gracie & Andy Hinton, Ruben M. Canales, and Angelica Canales; she leaves her prized grandchildren; Asher, Sophia, and Noah Hinton; and also leaves her sisters, Lupe Guajardo and Nancy Caldera.
