   Eligio Cortez Jr., 53, of Webster, Texas passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022. Funeral Services are set for 10AM Tuesday, February 8 in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. Rev. James Turner will officiate and burial will follow in the Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Monday, February 7 also at Trevino-Smith.

    Eligio was a hardworking man. In his free time he enjoyed building stuff and being a handyman. Truck driving, a good fishing spot, and some good music were among his favorites. In his younger days, he liked to breakdance and was part of the midnight floor shakers a local BCS group.  As a teenager, he liked playing baseball and boxing. Most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends and don’t forget those precious grandbabies the light of his life. 

    His father, Eligio Trevino Cortez Sr., precedes him in death.

    Eligio leaves behind to cherish his memories; his loving wife of 20 years, Rebecca (Sambrano) Cortez; his dear mother, Estela (Cruz) Cortez; five sons, Israel Xavier Cortez, Justin Michael Cortez and wife Victoria, Steven Alexander Ramirez and wife Elizabeth, Eligio Marcus Cortez, Julian David Garza Loera; one daughter, Ariel Ann and husband Isaac Gonzalez; three brothers, Albert Cortez and wife Veronica, Ricky and wife Angie Cortez, and Chris Timothy Cortez; he also leaves two sisters, Sheila Garcia and husband Danny, and Melinda Cortez; along with ten loving grandchildren and numerous, nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
