Delores Shaw

January 8, 1927 – November 2, 2022

Delores Rose Shaw was born January 8, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas and went to our Lord on November 2, 2022 in Bonham, Texas. A Graveside Service is set for 11 AM on Friday, November 11 in Tryon Cemetery in Kurten, TX. She was the youngest of ten children and grew up on a family farm in Howard, Kansas. She loved riding horses and helping her mother raise chickens. Delores spent most of her adult life in Kurten, TX.

Delores married in 1943 and had two children. Anita in 1944 and Harlin, who died shortly after birth. Delores and her first husband adopted Bryan in 1953. In 1954, Delores and family moved to College Station, TX. Shortly after moving, Delores became a single parent with two young children. She worked several different jobs, before getting a job at the Texas A&M clothing warehouse. Her boss, Bryan Hearne introduced her to James Clinton (JC) Shaw in 1957. Soon after, Delores and JC were married and started a dairy business in Kurten, TX.   JC adopted Anita and Bryan Dale.  In 1959, Delores and JC adopted Corinne and in 1964 they adopted Dwight Edwin.

Delores is predeceased by her parents John and Gladys Rose, her husband JC and her son Harlin. They had four children: Anita Jean (Cleophas Robert Cooke, Jr.), Bryan Dale, Corinne (Kenneth Kahil) and Dwight Edwin (Sandra Stanley).  Grandchildren: Cleophas Cooke III (Chikako Hiramya), Craig Clinton Cooke, Keith Marshall Kahil (Lori Muessig), Lindsey Michelle Kahil (Charles Burns), Helen Rose Shaw. And seven great grandchildren: Courtney Makoto Cooke, Ian Hirotaka Cooke, Emmy Burns, Reese Burns, Beau Burns, Avery Kahil, and Mason Kahil.

Delores had many long-lasting friendships and was happiest living with JC in the Kurten community.  She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, sewing and loved country life.  The family request that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude’s.  http://giftfunds.stjude.org/DeloresRoseShawMemorialFund
