David McCallum Obituary

Hey there! Gear up for a ride on the lighter side as we celebrate the final mile marker for the one and only David "Big Dave" E. McCallum. On February 24, 2024, at the grand age of 66, Big Dave rolled on up to that big truck rally in the sky, leaving the highways of Bryan, Texas, for a celestial stretch of endless road

Forever the man who could spark a laugh with his quick wit and fiery spirit, Big Dave rode through life's twists and turns with a Dr. Pepper in his cup holder and a Marlboro Red in the ashtray. When it came to friends, Dave had a heart bigger than a trucker's appetite and considered everyone family, always ready to offer a helping hand—or a laugh, even if it meant unloading his own treasures.

Waving him off on his eternal road trip are his sister Jackie Shoun, brother Bobby Pineda Children David (Tammy)April (Jonathan), Krista, Londie (Clifford), Julie (Drew), Brandi (Waylon), Britney (Justin), and Marie. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members. David was preceded in death by his wife Angel Utchell, sisters Linda Frank, Deena Stayner, and brother Richard Pineda.

For three decades, Big Dave’s CB radio crackled with life as he hauled more than just cargo; he delivered smiles across the miles as a long-haul trucker. Later, he became the go-to-guy at Williams Brothers Construction, steering his way to retirement in 2021.

The staff at Trevino - Smith Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, are the day's dispatchers, carefully coordinating Big Dave's last ride.

Keep your blinker on for Big Dave. He's just switched lanes to that great superhighway in the sky.
