Cheryl King Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share of the passing of Cheryl Annette King on January 12th, at the age of 67, after a brief but fiercely fought battle with high-grade serous carcinoma. A battle she had previously won and had celebrated remission of for a year.
Cheryl was welcomed into eternity by her loving parents, Leon and Billie Mulanax; her devoted husband, Rev. Doug King; her brother, Allen Pitchford; her brother-in-law, TJ Thomas; and a host of good friends and family that she is rejoicing with.
She is survived by her sister Debbie Thomas; her brother Tom Mulanax (Suzi); her brother Arthur Wayne Pitchford (Vicki); her daughter Michelle Rodriguez; her daughter Kim Carr (Matt); her son, William "Billy" King (Alana); her daughter Brittany Rushton (Ethan Sr.); her son Aaron Sianzembwe (Latasha); grandchildren Dezmond Rodriguez, DeShawn Rodriguez, Amanda Bell (Dakota), Michael Watkins (Mazzy), Emily Sorrentino (Miriana), Destiny Carr, Ricky Carr, Tiffany King, Jayden Bass, Jacob King, Aurik Lucas, Ethan Rushton Jr., Harper Rushton; great grandchildren Ethan Fulgium, Aaden Fulgium, Luca Sorrentino, Violet Miller, Adaline Bell, Olive Miller, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and loved ones. All of whom agree that the loss of her is immeasurable, but so is her love left behind.
Cheryl was a beloved mother, devoted wife, cherished grandmother, precious daughter, treasured sister, friend to hundreds, mentor to dozens, and admired and respected by everyone who came in contact with her.
Cheryl was born on December 16th, 1958 in Amarillo, TX. She spent her childhood throughout several parts of Texas and California. After graduating from Sanger High School, she went into administrative work, enjoying her years as secretary of the City of Sanger, as well as her longstanding career at both United American and Cigna as implementation manager. In 1983 she married the love of her life, Doug, and they remained fiercely devoted to each other until Doug's passing in 2022, with her love remaining steadfast until the end.
Cheryl was a big personality with even bigger hair. She was a decades-long pastor's wife, a role that she cherished and that had an impact on each person she interacted with. She led in multiple ministries and outreach communities throughout her life, including United Methodist Women, Epiphany, Emmaus and impacted so many people's lives during that time.
She was courageous, inspirational, loving, funny, and full of joy - the embodiment of kindness that showed us what can be accomplished with determination, optimism, and faith.
She loved animals, children, music, and people at their core. She always looked for the good in every situation and in every person. She lived her life and her faith to the fullest. Her greatest joys were the love of her husband and family, and the gift of being Christ to others.
