Cecilia Flores Cadena Obituary

In Loving Memory of Cecilia Flores Cadena

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Cecilia Flores Cadena, who departed this world peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 90. She was surrounded by family and embraced by love in her final moments.

Cecilia, affectionately referred to as Pita by her family, was born on December 22, 1935, in the charming town of Piedras Negras, Mexico, a place she held dear throughout her life. She was the daughter of Gertrudis Flores and Maria Del Refugio Serrato, and the second-oldest of five siblings: Julia Olivio, Jose Flores, Socorro Lopez, and Janie Ortiz.

Cecilia was married to Jose Cadena, who has since passed away. Together, they were blessed with five children: Mary Bustos (married to Jesus), Griselda Ruiz (married to Juan), Jose Cadena Jr. (married to Carmen), Cesar Cadena (married to Sandra), and Sandra Stanton (married to Dennis). These children were truly the center of her universe. Her affectionate spirit extended to her 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom she cherished and inspired in countless ways. She was the heart of her family, drawing every generation in with her nurturing warmth.

Cecilia was not only a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, but also an engaged member of the church who frequently volunteered for community events. Her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Cecilia possessed a remarkable talent for cooking. She expressed her love through her food and was always enthusiastic about preparing her family's favorite meals. She demonstrated great care and concern for her disabled neighbors by preparing meals for them, ensuring they were fed every day.

Cecilia had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel special, as if they were her favorite. Her grandchildren often surrounded her, and she approached them with boundless patience and love. She told even the simplest stories with passion and excitement. She could hold the attention of her entire family with just the sound of her voice.

Every morning, she expressed her gratitude to God for the gift of another day and prayed for each of her children and grandchildren. She embraced every chance to lift her loved ones in prayer. After each family visit, she maintained a cherished tradition of giving each person a heartfelt prayer for their safe journeys home. Her love and kindness resonated deeply and will forever be remembered by her family and friends.

A mass for Cecilia will be held on Friday, June 26, at Sacred Heart Church, 2055 Williams St., Eagle Pass, Texas, at 11 am. After the mass ceremony, we will lay her ashes to rest at Our Lady of the Refuge Cemetery, 1679 Flowers St., Eagle Pass, Texas. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life.

Cecilia Flores Cadena's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, radiating as a guiding light of love, compassion, and resilience. She embodied our family's strength and will be incredibly missed. Her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to witness her grace and wisdom.
