Carolyn Woodard Hewitt, 80, of Somerville, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2026.

Born on April 28, 1945, in a house on a farm in Waxahachie, Texas—where both her mother and grandmother were also born—Carolyn lived a life marked by kindness, humor, thoughtfulness, and generosity. Carolyn grew up with her younger sister, Sandy, in a railroad town in Ellis County, where Sandy often aggravated her, especially by stealing the covers at night. She later attended nursing school in Bryan/College Station.

Throughout her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), she worked at the College Station Medical Center for over 20 years then provided personal care in assisted living communities and private care. Carolyn was known for her dedication and compassion, especially toward the patients she cared for. She also dedicated time as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Louise Woodard.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Joe; her son Brian McGlothin and his wife Rita; her son Kevin Crouch and his wife Gladys; her grandchildren; Britney, Tim, Sarah, Kyle, Justin, Carrie, Matthew, and Joseph; and her great-grandchildren;  Javier, Brent, Colton, Coby, Creager, Josie, Kingston, Leighton, Joey, Hailey, Christopher, and Chance, her sister, Sandy Rachui, and her stepchildren, Deborah Frost and Corey Hewitt.

Carolyn will be remembered for her love of cooking, helping others, and music—especially singing. She loved performing for a crowd and had a special gift for Patsy Cline songs. She was also a storyteller, always ready with a tale that was sometimes interrupted with or ended with her signature laugh. Her presence brought comfort and laughter to everyone who knew her. She loved collecting angel figurines, a passion that now feels symbolic of her new role.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that her voice, her laughter, and her kindness will continue to echo in the hearts of all who loved her.
