Carmen Ann (Anderson) Court Obituary
Carmen Ann (Anderson) Court, 74, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
Carmen was born on March 18, 1951, in Austin, Texas, to Sylburn Lee Roy Anderson and Gladys (Wiruscheske) Anderson. She was raised in Bryan, Texas, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1969. Following high school, Carmen pursued her passion for design by attending the Dallas School of Fashion Design and Merchandising.
On August 22, 1971, Carmen married the love of her life, Frank Wayne Court. Together, they celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children and building a family filled life, much of it spent in Bryan, Texas.
Carmen’s lifelong love of sewing blossomed into a small business, operating a bespoke seamstress service from her home for many years. Her creativity, attention to detail, and talent for tailoring made her a sought-after local artisan. Alongside her sewing work, Carmen enjoyed a long and successful career in retail, working for over 25 years at some of the Brazos Valley’s most beloved stores, including Bealls, Foley’s, Macy’s, and Lowe’s. She took pride in her work, forming lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike.
She also found great joy in cooking, especially Italian meals lovingly taught to her by her mother-in-law, Rose Court. Her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of homemade dishes, each one made with care and heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylburn and Gladys Anderson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Wayne Court; her daughters, Sabrina (Court) McIntosh and husband Scott McIntosh of Lindale, Texas, and Christine (Court) Maywald and husband Chad Maywald of Prosper, Texas; her son, Layne Court and his partner Billy Lennarz of New Orleans, Louisiana; her brother, Dennis Anderson and wife Phyllis of Waxahachie, Texas; her sister, Paula Ramsey of Fulshear, Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Reece Maywald, Addison Maywald, and Court McIntosh. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
Carmen’s strength, grace, and love were constants in the lives of those around her. Even as she faced the challenges of PSP, she met each day with quiet courage and an unshakable spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Carmen’s life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 401 S. Parker Avenue, Bryan, Texas.
