Brenda Damewood Obituary

Brenda F. Damewood

November 3, 1948- December 22, 2022

It is with sadness that we announce that Brenda F. Damewood lost her short battle with leukemia on Thursday, December 22, 2022.  She will be dearly missed by the lucky people whose lives she blessed with her warmth and kindness. Her life was dedicated to her family and friends in the forms of adoring wife, beloved mother, cherished Nanny to her grandchildren, sweet Aunt Bren, and dear friend. She died peacefully in her home at the age of 74 in the loving presence of her cherished husband, William Damewood, and her dedicated daughters, Teri Clark and Stacy Hill.

Born on November 3, 1948 in Merkel, Texas, our mom was a wonderful soul who never met a stranger.  She filled the room with her smile and warmth and always had a comforting hug to offer.  Nothing was better than to hear Mom’s joyous laughter ring out from genuine happiness. She loved playing dulcimer music and spending time in her favorite place, the Davis Mountains in West Texas. Not only could Mom whip up just about anything on her trusty sewing machine, she was a talented painter and creator of sparkly beaded jewelry. Many family memories were made while camping and traveling, and she was always up for cruising or adventuring.  Mom loved to cook for her family, and all of the grandchildren have fond memories of her warm home and tasty Thanksgiving meals.  Her grandkids meant the world to her, and the memories of the kids playing in the backyard at Nanny and Granddad's house or going to play miniature golf at the park in Katy will always be treasured.  When cookie baking time came around, we would all wait anxiously for the first batch of Giant Ginger Cookies to come out of the oven.  During the holidays, neighbors and friends would savor the goodies in her generous gift bags filled with sweet treats including her famous peanut butter fudge and chocolate-dipped goodies. She filled our lives with love and happiness, and we will miss her laughter and generous spirit.

Brenda is survived by her devoted and loving husband, William E. Damewood, her three daughters, Teri Clark and husband Keith Clark, Janay Goode-Vorpahl and husband Derek Vorpahl, and Stacy Hill and husband James Hill.  Grandkids John and Kimberly Head, Chris and Kimberly Head, Bailee and Ray Romero and son Azzie, Drake Vorpahl, Camille Roth, and Christina Roth will miss their beloved Nanny. Her siblings Calvin Keith and Judy Wagoner have lost a dear sister. She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Patricia Keith.

We will hold a celebration of life on January 14, 2023, beginning at 9:00 am at the Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home located at 9926 Jones Road, Houston, Texas, 77065.

There will be a live-stream of her celebration of life for those who will not be able to attend. Check back for a link.  We would love for anyone who was blessed to know Brenda to be able to participate.

We invite you to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor in place of flowers. American Cancer Society
