Bertha Faye Bailey, 72, of Normangee, Texas, entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday August 21, 2025. A Visitation is set for 10AM Monday, September 1PM at Zion Baptist Church in Normangee, TX. Funeral Services are set for 1PM, also on Monday with Pastor Marvin E. Cooper, Jr. leading the service. Burial will take place at Brushy Creek Cemetery, in Marquez, Texas.

Bertha Faye (Spurling) Bailey was born on Sunday, July 5, 1953, to Hardy Craig and Bobbie Jean Spurling. Throughout her life, she remained a passionate and steadfast lover of Christ.

Bertha had an open and loving heart, always generous with her time, attention, and care. A devout, lifelong Christian, she found strength in her faith and joy in being part of her church community, where she loved reading her bible, attending services, and sharing fellowship with others. She took immense pride in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in watching them grow and succeed in their own ways. Music was another constant joy in her life, especially the uplifting gospel songs that spoke to her soul and filled her home with peace and praise. She was often found humming along while cooking in the kitchen, where she expressed her love through hearty, homemade meals. Her food brought people together, whether it was Sunday dinners, holiday feasts, or just a warm plate offered to a neighbor.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hardy and Bobbie Jean; her Aunts Florence Moseley and Mary Lee Birdow, and her Uncle Alonzo Spurling.

Miss Bertha leaves behind to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 30 years, James Bailey; three sons, Larry Allen and wife, Neila, Reginald Allen and wife, Gina, and James Bailey; a daughter, Lakeysha Allen; two brothers, Robert Sanders and Elmer Sanders; four sisters, Barbara Ann Allen, Jo Sanders, Jacqueline Allen, and Jennifer Sanders; 13 grandchildren; 22 precious great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
