Born January 3, 1934, in La Calera Guanajuato, Mexico. He was the son of Jesus and Adela (Hinojosa) Mosqueda. Antonio was a man of integrity, ethics, and values. He learned his work ethic at the early age of four as he worked alongside his father planting crops in the field. As he grew older by the age of six, he was tending to the family’s farm animals on his own. Antonio loved singing and socializing and in 1998 formed Tradicional Mosqueda with his sons, which evolved into what is now Mariachi Mosqueda. Their music reached audiences from local dignitaries to backyard barbeques. Antonio was also a great inspiration to the new generation of local Mariachis.
He loved attending church and traveling with his family whenever possible, cooking, gardening, cruising and spending time at the casinos were among some of his favorite past times. He was a free-spirited man who enjoyed doing whatever he pleased.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle, BOSSMAN, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
When asked how he would like for Mariachi Mosqueda to be remembered, my father replied “as a group with deep love for family, music and remember to instill the love of music in the new generation so that they continue listening and learning the traditional music from their heritage.”
Preceding him in death are his parents, Jesus and Adela; his loving wife of 65 years, Elvira (Mata) Mosqueda; a daughter, Sylvia Mosqueda; son, Antonio M. Mosqueda Jr.; granddaughter, Natalie Mosqueda; a grandson, Antonio J Mosqueda III; his great grandson, Andrew Martinez; and a brother, Jesus “Chuy” Mosqueda.
Antonio leaves behind to cherish his memories, two sons, Ignacio Mosqueda and Norma; Jaime Mosqueda and Isabel Fajardo, four daughters, Martina and Gustavo Elizondo, Margaret and Manual Bustos Sr., Maria and Dennis Hoffman, Linda Mosqueda, and daughter-in-law Altair Mosqueda; he also leaves a brother Salvador Mosqueda, two sisters Soledad Orona Mosqueda and Marina Bernal; along with 27 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 precious great-great grandchildren.
