April 22, 1930 – December 5, 2018

 

Tom Earl Crouch, known to family as “Pappy” passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 5, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born in Grimes Switch which is south of Iola to Willice and Beulah O’Bannion Crouch. He had five brothers and six sisters in which he was the youngest and last to pass away. He was a farmer for many years but eventually moved his family to the coast to work for Dow Badische Chemical Company in Freeport, TX. He worked for many years as a painter Forman and an insulator. He had four daughters that were raised as tomboys and could work like men. He lived in Sweeney for many years running a beautiful farm with his kids and grandkids picking crop and selling them on the side of the road at Four Forks.  For a short while he had a shrimp boat and sold shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico. He was a hard working man with many talents. He had a saw mill and loved to make beautiful furniture out of cedar trees.  He helped build several houses including a few of his own and did dozer work. He loved to travel with his wife Deanna and would make many trips enjoying the country and panning for gold. He was a very unique man who had excellent health up until the last few months of his life who worked very hard even after he was diagnosed with cancer. He trusted the Lord with all of his heart. He was proceeded in death by his parents Willice and Beulah Crouch, five brothers and six sisters, Bill, Doyle, Esaw, Jack, Loach, Bernice, Bessie, Mattie, Helen, Anna Lou and Norma, two daughters Mary Clark of Flynn, and Betty Holton of Buffalo, three grandsons Richard Livanec of Brazoria, William “Skipper” Walden of Flynn, and Trey Richardson of Normangee, and a great granddaughter Kylee Harris of Flynn. He is survived by his wife, Deanna Crouch of Flynn and her stepdaughter Donita Wise of Big Spring, two daughters Margaret Hutchins and Janette Taylor both from Flynn, five granddaughters Kelly Horn, Tyra Ranton, Michelle Livanec, Leslie Harris, Rashelle Fitzgerald and one grandson Clint Bell, one step granddaughter Heather, and two step grandsons Trevor Jugert and Billy Wise, twenty- five great grandkids and six great great grandkids along with many more friends family.
