       Juan “Johnny” Cortez, 61, of Hearne passed away Friday, May 24, 2019. A Memorial Service is set for 10AM Saturday, June 1 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

       Born September 30, 1957 in Bryan, Texas he was the son of Henry Cortez Sr. and Manuela (Munoz) Cortez. Johnny enjoyed the outdoors, and kept his yard looking spectacular. He was known for being a comedian with no filter. He was involved with the Robertson Co. zero tolerance program and teens against drugs.

       He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry Cortez Jr. and David Cortez; and one sister, Rebecca Cortez.

       Johnny leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife Mary Cortez; two sons, Ruben Martinez and Jennifer Hernandez, and Daniel and Shelly Martinez; one brother, Richard Cortez and wife Lupe; six sisters, Alice Mendez and husband Manuel, Virginia Esino, Yvonne Ramirez, Sylvia Coburn and husband Cliff, Vera Cortez, and Angela Hudak and husband Bill; Sister-in-law, Deolanda Cortez; and six granddaughters, and 2 grandsons.
