Jose Carmen Rivera

Jose Carmen Rivera, 79, of Bryan, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, with his family by his side. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11:30AM on Saturday, March 23 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. Father Victor Mayorga will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Jose Carmen was born July 16, 1944, the eldest of his siblings, he was the son of Luis and Amada (Oviedo) Rivera. He enjoyed starting every morning by reading words of scripture. Jose loved volunteering at his church and especially liked helping with the yearly Jamaica fundraiser. Jose liked to travel with his wife, children, and close friends, visiting places such as Jerusalem,California, Arkansas, New York, Florida, Louisiana, Cancun, Nuevo Laredo and his beloved birthplace León, Guanajuato, Mexico.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jose leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 61 years, Maria Petra Rivera; sons, Adrian Rivera (Amber Gibbs), and Fabian Rivera; daughters, Rufina Romero (Henry), Esther Natividad (Benny), Maria Duron (Bobby), Elena Rodriguez (Jay), Esperanza Mireles (Ray), and Ana Alicia Rivera (Ashley Trejo); as well as four brothers, and six sisters; he also
leaves 14 grandchildren and 13 precious great-grandchildren.
